Thank you’s, a look at our new home and a taste of things to come…

It feels like forever! But it’s good to be back… at least to say goodbye to the old site.

First and foremost, I wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone for reading this blog. I HONESTLY never thought I’d be moving over to a hosted domain, but as it turns out… we need a bigger home for the better things to come.

Things to come (Imagine me saying this in my best Top Billing voice)

  • an amazing “Welcoming” competition on the other side. So keep an eye out for me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook!
  • I’ll be going to REHAB

A sneak peak into the new site…

I had some help from my good friend Minki who is … simply put… THE BALLZ. You can click on the image below, which are also the new characters of the blog, and it will take you to the new site… but just in case… here you go…

We have a new home

We’re moving!!!

Some of you might know that I’ve been looking at a new home for this blog. Some of you have been working on it too… I’m looking at you Minkels! Because some of the content has already been moved over and because it’s easier and less hassle, I’ve decided to stop any further posts on this page until I’ve moved over successfully. (I hope I got all the posts)

Let’s get techie…

This is the part I hate….. because I don’t understand it… but here goes. There’s this thing called a “Jet Pack” that’s going to magically take you with me. Now… I don’t know exactly how Bloglovin’ is going to work but I’ll try my best to figure it out and make the transition as painless as possible.

It’s a work in progress

OK OK… I wanted to move you over when it was all finished and done and very pretty, but you’re going to have to settle for “new” for the time being. But I think you’ll like it.

See ya on the other side!!!

2 Friday song Crushes!

Friday Song crush time again! I have a doozy this week – I had to dig into my personal stash of special kind of music. As you probably know, I’m a raging indie groupie. If this was the 60’s, I would wear bellbottoms, crop tops without a bra and a flower crown… oh wait… it’s a “thing” now…

I realise, though, that this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea so you will be excused for not listening to this. If you’re an Alt J fan however, then you’ll know that their latest album is a MASSIVE hit and managed to make 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st on this week’s top 20 i-tunes/Kia list within a week of release! That’s pretty great.

One of my faves is The Gospel of John Hurt … think it might to good in an episode of Vampire Diaries or The Originals… is all I’m saying CW. (PS… Megzie… we totes needs to get our drank awn)

If you remember the dude from “Riptide” – Vance Joy – you’ll be pleased to know he’s not another one hit wonder and I’m happy he’s back with this one, called “First Time” – I think it’s really sweet. I love it!

A real Stepping Stone – Lush

Stepping Stone BannerOne thing that always “gets me” about Lush’s products are the names. Whoever comes up with these names should be awarded a “Punny medal of honour”. If you’re reading this, I salute you. I saluteThe much dreaded Sunday evening with its taste of the Monday Blues, to me, is usually a bath time feast. It’s the time of the week, where I try to relax and indulge in my favourite bath products. Just so that it’s very clear – I’ve had the worst time trying to ration my Lush products – I want to use them every day, all day long!

This week I set out to try the blue, fresh smelling, foot-shaped foot scrub called Stepping Stone. As with the Each Peach Massage bar, my purchase was based on smell. It smells like the ocean, if the ocean smelled like citrus and jojoba. At first, I wasn’t convinced that this brittle bar could quite stand up to the challenge, but as soon as it hit the water and I worked it onto my feet, I could feel the sea salt and pumice doing its magic. Stepping stone 2Bonus: If your dream has always been to be a Smurf, then THIS is the product for you! *LIFE MADE*

stepping stone 3Also, in addition to being buffed and polished, my feet were soft and moisturised by the oils the scrub contains.

How to use: Break into preferred sizes for future uses (I think I’d get about 3 uses out of it) and store in a cool, dry place. If you would like to purchase your very own Smurf maker… I mean Stepping Stone, you can head on over to the Lush site.

stepping stone 1** I think I might have to factor into my monthly budget some extra money for Lush … who needs to eat? **

How to: Get psyched for 2015 – reach your goals

I know we’re only in September but before you know it, we’ll be in December, planning our holiday shopping and going on holiday, by which time you won’t have any time to think about the next year.

Do you want to go through another year of unfulfilled New Year’s Resolutions, or do you want to take 2015 by the horns? I choose horns, please!

Start now – here’s how

Think of all the things happening in your life right now and where you want to be in the next 5 years. Now set your goals.

To give you an example:

(Assessment) I’m currently just a blogger, (goal) but in 5 years, I want to be an editor for an online or print magazine.

Now that you’ve assessed and set a goal, you need to PLAN your way to success.

Example: How am I going to get there? (Plan) I need to take a course and sharpen my skills.

Now that you have a plan, do your research and take action so that by the 1st of January 2015, all you have to do is show up.

Example: I found a comprehensive online course that suits my pocket and I’ve enrolled and paid my fees.

I firmly believe that the reason why so many New Year’s resolutions end in tears and disappointment is because they’re made too late. Failing to plan is planning to fail – don’t set yourself up for failure.

Here’s a list of the 10 commonly broken New Year’s Resolutions

  1. Lose weight and get fit
  2. Quit Smoking
  3. Learn a new skill
  4. Eat Healthier and Diet
  5. Get out of debt and save money
  6. Spend more time with family
  7. Travel to new Places
  8. Be less stressed
  9. Volunteer
  10. Drink less

There are great solutions to all of these – take action – make it a reality! If you want to get out of debt, sign up for debt counselling. If you want to spend more time with family, set out time and let them know when it’s going to happen.

All your goals can be achieved if you set your mind to it, plan and take action. Do it NOW before the New Year’s blues set in and you’re frustrated before you even made your goals.

Tuesday 10’s – Summer lusts

Tuesday 10’s – my summer holiday lusts

I don’t know about you folks but I’m planning my holiday already. I’ve paid my deposit, planned my pre- and post- New Year’s activities and this time around (unlike last year) I’m going to forget about the “worldly problems” that haunt us because… guess what, 2013 Leana… yes you get frustrated… but it all works out… and you’re stronger for it.

I sought out to find THE summer MUST-HAVE items for 2014/2015 and I made my own personal short list of things I really, really want.
