Friday Song Crush!!!

You guys, weekend is here and … HAWT DAMMIT! I’m so ready for it! Without getting soppy and teary eyed… this year needs to come to an end now. Is anyone else feeling the 3/4 year fatigue like I am?

This is why I’m really enjoying the song I’m featuring today. It’s a little bit of soul that surprises you with a dose of drum and base and the video has a serious MEXICAN vibe to it, which I’m SO DIGGING!

I hope you enjoy… Here’s Changing by Sigma ft Paloma Faith

I won I won I won

Hey Gals… so, I don’t know if you remember that awful video I submitted for the Katy Perry Killer Queen competition (Beauty Bulletin)… but … I WON!! Well, I’m thinking I’m one of the winners… ain’t no way in hell I out video’ed my friend Naeema Ajam:

Now tell me this isn’t good… then I’ll call you a filthy liar!

Now, on it’s way to me is this pretty girl

pretty girlHappy day!! Thank you so much Beauty Bulletin! You have no idea how badly I wanted this!!

Monday pick me ups

big_collage_24170239

It’s that time of the year, and I often joke “Die gees is gewillig, maar die vlees… not so much”. Everyone seems to be getting into the Christmas spirit and the Mondays nearing the end of the year are getting a little more difficult to face. This is why I thought I’d share with you some of the little things that I look forward to experiencing for myself.

1. Skin Clays by Kai

A while ago, I ordered the Lilly Storm box and inside was the most delectable hand lotion I have ever seen. It is a pink-ish colour (sort of concealer looking colour) and it has been in my handbag ever since I got it. I couldn’t find much on the brand but did find their Facebook page and so I fired off a message to them to please send me their brochure. Ladies… if you want to spoil yourselves for cheap…. then you gotta try them out. Why don’t you download the Skin Clays Brochure here and see for yourself. Then I was delighted to find that they’re just as deliciously Afrikaans as I am and right in my back yard. *yippeee* I’m loving the DETOXING SCRUBS and I’m making this number one on my list of Monday pick me ups. I can’t wait to order mine!

2. Forever Love Jewelry – Dino Ring

I’m not a jewelry wearing gal but my Forever Love bunny ring features regularly. I love how unique the jewelry is and the fact that I can actually wear it without it turning green of dat dit my vingertjies in sausages verander nie. This weekend I stumbled upon her dino ring – she even has earrings to match and the ring is pretty reasonably priced at only R200. Do yourself a favour and follow the blog and go like her Facebook page or follow her on Twitter and I swear you won’t be sorry! Her jewelry will awaken your inner child!! I totally want this DINO RING!!!

3. Hey Gorgeous – Lavender Bath Milk

I have the Vanilla Bath milk and I absolutely adore the Rose petal bath milk… now I want to get my hands on the Lavender Bath milk. It’s only R110 and I can guarantee that you will have the best sleep of your life after a good lavender bath. If you’re not a fan of Lavender, I strongly suggest that you try the Vanilla (which smells like ice-cream) or the Rose Petal one. They make all their products fresh to order and believe me, it is worth every penny!

4. Oh so Heavenly gift sets

They never disappoint! They have an amazing offer now – buy 3 gift sets and only pay for 2. And it is after all, the season to be jolly. So why not take advantage of this offer (ends 7 December) and head on over to Clicks… you can buy two gifts and the 3rd is one for you!

5. Body Shop – Gingerbread range

I got a R50 voucher for my birthday from the awesome Body Shop and went on over to Tygervalley to redeem it. I got the best customer service from the lovely Tanya who wished me for my birthday and complimented me on my dress *cue warm fuzzy feelings*… It was like she knew I needed a pick me up. OK, so I didn’t get an item from the Gingerbread range but I have sent my request to a friend who I’m sure will come through for me… she knows how obsessed I am.

6. La Boutique Savon – ALL THEIR STUFF

If you haven’t heard of the UK based All natural Soap making connoisseurs then you’re in for a real treat. *Ah dammit, I wish they were in SA* Check out their website and prepare to lick your lips. Their soaps look edible and they have something called The Magic Potion. It is so versatile that it can be used on the skin and hair! “This is a very rich, pure oil that is absorbed quickly, and improves elasticity, encourages regeneration of cells and does not clog pores. It is often used to treat Eczema, Psoriasis and Rosacea problems. It may also be beneficial for healing burns, healing scars and reducing the appearance of stretch marks. It works wonderfully well as a hair conditioner too. Enjoy the wonderful benefits of this Baobab oil and include it your beauty routine by massaging this oil regularly into the skin and even hair. Packed with Vitamins A, D, E and F, and not forgetting Omegas 3,6 and 9.” AND THEY HAVE SOAP LOAVES… Check this one out… it’s called the JACK FROST!

jACK fROSTNow, this is enough to lift any mood! And the best news… they ship to SA too!

So there you have it. I hope it makes you feel as good as it made me feel!

Heaven in a bottle

I admit it… I broke the spending hiatus! But I simply couldn’t resist and because my spend was under R30, it really should be held against me… plus it is more of a necessity than a luxury.

There are 2 South African beauty brands that nobody should engage in an argument with me… those are Hey Gorgeous and Oh So Heavenly. I’ve been a supporter of OsH ever since their Lavender soaps (damn they’re still going strong). That, my friends… is 10 years ago (I think). On my 21st birthday I fell in love with their Beauty Sleep range and I still buy the pillow mist till today.

Today I bought myself one of their gems I’ve been aching to try out for a while…. I give you…. ta ta da daaaaa……

Cape Rooibos and Baobab Oil Renewing Body Wash!

OsHThis divine smelling body wash, not only cleanses you but also moisturises. You see those “layers”? They’re ribbons… that sounds cool hey?

IMG_0006 (1024x768)Anyways…

This dual purpose body wash is filled with all sorts of ingredients that feeds and nourishes your skin and when you hear Rooibos, your first connection should be ANTI-OXIDANTS (yippeee). They fight against free radicals which is one of the biggest catalysts for the aging process. I spit on you, aging!

The Baobab Oil is great for locking in moisture and added vitamins and we need all the vitamins we can get!

Once again Oh So Heavenly has superseded my expectations. I’m always astonished by how potent the smells are of the OsH body washes and how awesome my flat smells after I took a shower. This time is no different. I love the smell of it (kind of reminds me of a cocoa butter smell) and my skin feels great!

Less than R30 well spent!

That Cakery

that cakery logo

I have been on the hunt for wedding cupcakes for my friend’s wedding with not much success. They’re either not tasty enough or they’re too expensive.

I was on the verge of adding to my already overflowing list of things to do “Bake Wedding cupcakes and hunt down colour appropriate toppings and wrappers”. One thing I will brag about myself is that when it comes to carrot cupcakes I am the best at making them. This is what I thought, until my little sister bestowed upon me 2 carrot cupcakes from That Cakery.#imnotworthy

She’s been ranting and raving about Marelize from That Cakery and her amazing cupcakes. She’s invited me to her Facebook page and when I finally got the chance to accept the invitation I was astounded at the pics I saw… guess who’s making my Spongebob Birthday cake!

What’s even more astounding is her prices! I got a quote of R13 per Carrot cupcake and R10.50 per Vanilla cupcake. She usesĀ mascarpone cheese as apposed to cream cheese which makes for a better tasting icing too. #drool

Now, look at the pics again …. done? Good, now get this… she taught HERSELF how to do this by watching Youtube videos! When? One friggin year ago!!! This lady has a serious talent and she is so inspiring too! It just goes to show that when you put your mind to something… ANYTHING is possible. Now, I don’t do recommendations if I don’t really like a product so for me, putting my stamp of approval on That Cakery’s special wortel koekies, is a big deal.

I’ve always wanted my own “Cake person”… I FINALLY FOUND HER!!!

If you would like to check out more of her amazing work, check out her Facebook page here or phone her on 071 444 4111. Don’t blame me if you get addicted!

And the award goes to…

liebsterblogaward

I’ve heard quite a bit about these Liebster nominations and have even been nominated before by the lovely Rebecca aka Just Wing it. But, being the delinquent that I am and having an attention span about as tenacious as Kim Kardashian’s marriage, I completely forgot about the nomination šŸ˜¦ #getorganized Thank you Bec, you lovely lady! It was such an honour to have been nominated.

Last night I was nominated by the lovely Heather De Bruin! So I decided, “Enough is enough! Do the post already!”

Simply put, and I’ll use the exact words that Heather used on her post:

Upon accepting the Liebster Award :
– Link back the blogger that tagged you
– Nominate ten others and answer the questions of the one who tagged you
– Ask ten questions for the bloggers you nominate
– Let your nominees know of their award ”

The questions Heather posted to her nominees where as follows:

1. What is the inspiration behind your blog?

Me: It’s funny, because I didn’t intend on having a blog. I am just a “by chance” blogger. It started out as merely a platform for me to refer to Hey Gorgeous products in my tweets, but then the brand got it’s own website and I was left with a blog (which I secretly wanted all along). Hipstyler, Pretty & Ginger is chaotic to say the least – it looks like the gremlins in my mind. It is evolving at its own pace but ultimately, it will always be my little sanctuary where I get to say and do what I want about anything I want.

2. How long have you been blogging?

Me: 4 months? But I’ve been preparing my whole life…. šŸ˜€

3. What would be your best advice to newbie bloggers?

Me: Don’t do it for the fame and fortune… Wait?! There’s fame and fortune? We all know the saying “Write what you know” I say “Nay sir!” Some of the best pieces I’ve written were about things that I had no knowledge of and had to research. At the end of the day, at the very least, you’ll get to learn something new.

4. What has been your most successful Social Media Platform?

Me: Definitely Twitter! I’m followed by 5fm DJs yo! I don’t know how much more successful it gets!!! lol

5. If you could have dinner with anyone who would it be and why?

Me: Oh boy… Ann Hirch… She totally cracks me up. Or Zoe Deschanel. I need a six pack and I think this is the best way to go about it… laughing

6. Do you have any green initiatives. charities or social projects that you support?

Me: I initiated the “fill a tub movement” with Hey Gorgeous. It was a lot of fun. I also only use green products where I can. Contrary to popular belief, green cleaning agents are just as good as the regular ones.

7. If you could go on a shopping spree and choose any 5 items , what would they be?

Me: 1-Elie Saab (the designer) so I can stand behind him with a whip and yell “make me perfume KemoSaabie!”

2-Nine west (the brand) so I can walk into the factory and yell “I want Nine on the West and ten on the South”

3-Rimmel (the brand) so I can change the slogan to “it’s a Rimmel effect”.

4-Toyota Aygo – Because it’s pronounced I GO and that’s what I do.

5-Samsung S5 – because S4 is so yesterday.

8. Choose one …laptop , Ipad or Cellphone and tell us why?

Me: Tablet… Just got my Asus Nexus and life without Little Nexie would be horrid!

9. Choose one … make-up , perfume or skin care and tell us why?

Me: PERFUME!!! I don’t know… I am just obsessed.

10. What is your secret obsession that no one knows about?

Me: My secret obsession…. Planning my wedding in my mind… When I get engaged, I could get married the very next week…. I’m THAT prepared… Cue creepy music

Creepy bride

Now I have to nominate my faves:

  1. Naeema Ajam – The Jam Jar
  2. Tahlia Hamilton – Toomuchloveliness
  3. Maurine De Gia – My view my angle
  4. Nadia Lucas – Deialucas
  5. Smudged Beauty
  6. High Heels and Fairytales
  7. Lauren Groenewald – Lipglossed Ninja
  8. Tasneem Thomas – City Girl Vibe
  9. Life and Times of the Fireflies
  10. Heather De Bruin – Femme Lifestyle

And here are my questions:

  1. If you could switch lives with anyone in the world for one day, who would it be and why?
  2. Tell me about your favorite pet.
  3. If you could go anywhere on holiday, where would you go – money isn’t an issue.
  4. When you run into an ex, what do you do?
  5. What is your favorite fragrance?
  6. Little Black dress or red lipstick?
  7. If the Backstreet Boys were the only guys alive, who would you marry?
  8. Vampires or Werewolves?
  9. What do you look for an a friend – elaborate.
  10. What is your best colds and flues remedy?

So there you have it! This was fun!!!

Thanks Heather and Rebecca!!! xoxox
